Fire / EMR Notes
- Upon dispatch, respond to the scene and conduct activities as described in the active shooter plan — including your role as a Fire AND EMR unit (i.e. Rescue Taskforce).
- Execute the Fire and Rescue Taskforce actions of the I.A.P. to the greatest extent possible (within reason). Soft perimeter and rescue taskforce are observable — anything that isn’t must be vocalized via radio or simulated to a controller for full credit.
- Fire EMR units are assigned to the law Rescue Taskforce. Casualty Collection Points are established dynamically in the warm zone as the incident develops — they are not pre-planned locations.
- The exercise is timed. All critical actions are evaluated precisely at 1 hour into the activity — yes, this includes a full Incident Command. The Lead Controller will add challenges and ask questions along the way.
- This is less about speed than actually walking through the entire plan. Tactics ARE NOT being evaluated — overall strategy and objectives are.
- An exercise controller is embedded with your FIRE group, identified by designation at briefing. Refer questions to him/her throughout.
- Our goal is 2 “runs” during the 3-hour timeframe. This will be a high-paced activity.
