Your Key IAP Actions
EMS Notes
- Upon dispatch, respond to the scene and conduct activities as described in the active shooter plan — particularly your role as an EMS unit.
- Execute the EMS actions of the I.A.P. to the greatest extent possible (within reason, resources and simulation). Casualty collection is observable — anything that isn’t must be vocalized via radio or simulated to a controller for full credit.
- YOU ARE EXPECTED TO NOTIFY THE HOSPITAL OF THE EXERCISE ON 4367MCA. At some point you must establish a dedicated line to them to coordinate patient transport (67HOSP).
- You will not actually transport patients. Patients will be brought out to you by law or RTF with simulated patient cards — triage, simulate treatment, and relay to the hospital. Practice this with the hospital to the best of your ability!
- This is less about speed than actually walking through the entire plan. Tactics ARE NOT being evaluated — overall strategy and objectives are.
- An exercise controller is embedded with your EMS group, identified by designation at briefing. Refer questions to him/her throughout.
- Our goal is 2 “runs” during the 3-hour timeframe. This will be a high-paced activity.
